Upper Lighthorne Parish Council is pleased to share an important update on a key community safety initiative. In partnership with Warwickshire Police, and with the full backing of the Parish Council, a Community Speed Watch Team has been established—driven entirely by dedicated local volunteers who are making a tangible difference to road safety in our area.
The team’s role is vital. By actively monitoring vehicle speeds along the B4100 and through our village, they are helping to educate motorists, deter dangerous driving, and promote a culture of safety and awareness. Their presence serves not only as a deterrent but as a positive force for long-term behavioural change on our roads.
The data collected by the Speed Watch Team is professionally analysed to identify patterns and hotspots of concern. This evidence is used to inform wider decisions on traffic management—whether that be speed reduction measures, clearer signage, or the potential placement of speed cameras. Their work directly supports broader efforts to reduce accidents and save lives.
Speeding remains a leading cause of road traffic incidents. Through their efforts, our volunteers are directly contributing to safer streets and a better quality of life for all who live, work, and travel through Upper Lighthorn.
We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to every volunteer involved.
Their time, commitment and civic spirit deserve our full support. We also encourage all residents to take a moment to thank these individuals and to continue championing responsible driving behaviours throughout our community.
Let us stand together in supporting initiatives that protect lives and enhance safety for all.
