Community Allotments, Growing Together

Stratford-upon-Avon Parish Council is proud to support two vibrant community allotment plots—one funded by the Parish Council and the other generously provided by Lighthorne Church. These spaces are more than just places to grow food—they’re seeds of connection, learning, and wellbeing.

Our vision is to cultivate a shared space where:

🌿 Children and adults learn together through outdoor classrooms, seasonal workshops, and hands-on experiences.

🧑‍⚕️ Social prescribing offers gentle pathways to wellbeing, inviting people to connect with nature, each other, and themselves.

🤝 Community bonds flourish, with shared harvests, storytelling, and inclusive events that welcome all ages and backgrounds.

🤝 Relationships with Other Plot Holders
We encourage friendly, respectful relationships between all plot holders. Whether you're tending your own patch or joining a shared activity, we ask everyone to support a spirit of cooperation—sharing tools, tips, and time when possible. These plots thrive when we do.

🌾 What We’re Expecting from the Community Plots
These plots are for everyone, and we hope they’ll be used with care and creativity. We expect:

- Regular tending and upkeep
- Openness to collaboration and shared use
- Participation in occasional events or working parties
- Respect for others’ space, time, and contributions

You don’t need to be an expert gardener—just bring a willingness to grow something together.

📅 What’s an Event vs. Ad-Hoc Time Banking?
- Events are planned gatherings—like seasonal planting days, workshops, or harvest celebrations. They’re great for learning, connecting, and celebrating.
- Ad-hoc time banking is more flexible: if you help out with watering, weeding, or mentoring, you can “bank” that time and exchange it for support or resources later. It’s a gentle way to share effort and kindness.

📇 Who Is Your Point of Contact?
For questions, ideas, or to get involved, your main contact is Ben Robinson. (
ben@upperlighthorneparish.gov.uk) he’s usually accompanied by Mika, our unofficial allotment guardian.

🛠️ Working Parties
From building raised beds to clearing brambles, working parties are where we roll up our sleeves together. These are informal, inclusive sessions—no pressure, just shared purpose. We’ll announce them in advance and always welcome extra hands, laughter, and thermos flasks.
